NYCHA Real Talk supports public housing residents and organizers who want participate in shaping the future of the largest public housing authority in the county, and of their homes.

The NYCHA Real Talk team, the Community Development Project, Inc. d/b/a Take Root Justice, knows that you, as a community member and user, care about how your personal information is used and shared, and we take your privacy very seriously.

Please read the following Privacy Policy to learn more about how we treat the information that we collect through NYCHARealTalk.org (the “Website”). As explained in the Terms of Service, by using the website you consent to the practices outlined in this policy.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to the practices of any third parties that may be linked to on the Website. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties.

1. User and Usage information collected

1.1 In order to facilitate certain services on the Website, NYCHA Real Talk may collect personal information about you, such as your full name, email address, and phone number.

1.2 The NYCHA Real Talk team may also collect usage data, such as your IP address, URL request, browser type, and the date and time of a request. We may use such information to analyze trends, administer the site, and gather broad demographic information.

2. Sharing of User information with third parties 

2.1 The NYCHA Real Talk team does not share your information with third parties without your consent (see Terms of Use, Section 3, regarding how you might grant consent). In order to maximize your user experience and to optimally operate the Website, certain individuals, including, but not limited to the following, may have access to your user information without you explicitly granting consent:

a.    NYCHA Real Talk team personnel may have access to your information as necessary to optimally operate its businesses and the Website.

b.    We may share your information with third party service providers solely as necessary for those third party service providers to provide services to the NYCHA Real Talk team.

c.    We may share your information when we believe in good faith that release is necessary to comply with a governmental or court order; to comply with applicable law; to comply with a subpoena from a third party; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of the NYCHA Real Talk team, our employees, our users, or others.

3. Changes to this Privacy Policy

3.1 The NYCHA Real Talk team may amend this Privacy Policy from time to time, at its sole discretion. Use of information we collect is subject to the Privacy Policy in effect at the time such information is used. If we make changes to the Privacy Policy, we will notify you by posting an announcement on the Website.

4. Children Under 18 Years of Age

You must be 13 years old or older to use the Website. As a result, we do not specifically collect information about children. If we learn that we have collected information about a child under the age of 13, we will delete that information promptly. We recommend that minors between the ages of 13 and 18 ask and receive their parents' permission before using the Website or sending information about themselves or anyone else over the Internet.

5. Cookies

Cookies are small text files that the Website can send to your browser for storage on your computer. We may use cookies to track usage patterns on the site and to record registration and personalize your user experience.
